Frequently Asked Questions about Confirmation at Corpus Christi
What are the requirements for my child to be confirmed?
  1. Complete the 7th Grade curriculum
  2. Complete the 8th Grade curriculum
  3. Complete and document a service project
  4. Choose a confirmation patron saint and write about that choice
  5. Select a confirmation sponsor
  6. Attend a confirmation retreat

 When are the confirmation classes?
7th and 8th grade confirmation class dates will not be held this summer on campus.  All classes will be done by the home study program.

What’s the attendance policy for the confirmation classes?
The confirmation classes cover a large amount of material during a short time frame.  Therefore, it is critical that students attend the entirety of the classes each day.  Students will only be excused in truly exceptional circumstances, and will also be required to make up the material missed during class time.

What if my child cannot attend the scheduled confirmation classes?
You may complete the curriculum as a home study.  All necessary materials will be provided.  Simply indicate the “home study” option when registering for the class.

What if my child is in 8th Grade and didn’t attend the 7th Grade class last year?
You have two options: your child may attend the 7th Grade class in order to get caught up, or the 7th Grade curriculum may be done as a home study.  It is not uncommon to have older students in the classes, so your child will not feel out of place.

What if my child is older than 7th or 8th Grade and has not yet been confirmed?
You have two options: your child may attend the 7th and 8th Grade classes in order to get caught up, or the curriculum may be done as a home study.  It is not uncommon to have older students in the classes, so your child will not feel out of place.

What is the registration fee and why do I have to pay it?
The registration fee covers all aspects of your child’s participation in our confirmation program.  This includes curriculum, class time, meal, and the confirmation retreat.

If I choose the confirmation home study, do I still have to register my child and pay the registration fee?
Yes, registration is critical to ensure that our records are accurate.  Even if your child is participating in a home study, we still must provide them with curriculum, office work, and the confirmation retreat, which this fee covers.

What if my child attends the Corpus Christi Parish School?
If your child attends the Corpus Christi Parish School, the confirmation curriculum is built into their religion classes.  Corpus Christi School students should not register for summer classes.

What’s the confirmation retreat all about?
An essential component of preparing to receive the sacrament of confirmation is attending our confirmation retreat.  This retreat allows candidates the opportunity to directly engage the principals covered in our classes.  It also allows our students to build up the fellowship that began in class.

When is the confirmation retreat?
Due to the COVID–19 pandemic, we are unable to have a live retreat this year.  The Confirmation Retreat is on-line and can be found on the Corpus Christi website at: cccparish.org/confirmation

What if my child cannot attend the scheduled confirmation retreat?
The confirmation retreat is a requirement set by the Archdiocese and cannot be waived.  If your child cannot attend the entirety of the retreat offered by Corpus Christi Parish, you will be responsible to ensure that this requirement is fulfilled by attending a confirmation retreat sponsored by the archdiocese or another parish.

When will the confirmation liturgy be held?
WE will release the date when the Archbishops office has given us the information.  We will have a rehearsal the Sunday prior to Confirmation after the 10 am liturgy.    We ask that candidates and sponsors to be present this present take only about 30-40 minutes.

Who can be a sponsor?
A sponsor for confirmation is a Catholic individual who has been fully initiated into the Catholic Church through Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.  A sponsor must be active and fully participating in the Catholic faith, completed the 16th year of age, leading a life of faith, not bound by any canonical penalty, and not a parent of the confirmandi.  The role of a sponsor is to support the one being confirmed, to represent the community, and to speak for the person’s readiness for confirmation.  A sponsor needs to be present for the confirmation liturgy.

What if my sponsor can’t attend the confirmation liturgy?
If an emergency prevents a sponsor from attending, a proxy may be designated in place of the original sponsor.  The original sponsor’s name will appear on the confirmation certificate.
