Information about Spanish and French at Corpus Christi Catholic School:
Spanish is offered to all Kindergarten through 5th grade students, as well as to the Wednesday morning and Wednesday afternoon preschoolers. We start every class period with a prayer in Spanish. We cover a variety of topics through songs, games, stories, and written activities.
Spanish A and Spanish B are offered to middle school students as an elective. We deepen their study of Spanish through activities to practice grammar, vocabulary, and speaking skills.
French is also offered as an elective to middle school students. Students get an introduction to French language and culture through speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities.
Mrs. LaPoint has 8 years experience teaching French and Spanish for Lawrence Public Schools and 12 years experience teaching languages at Corpus Christi Catholic School. She holds a Master's degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Literature and a Master's degree in Gifted Education.
All 1st-5th grade students need a 3 ring binder (1/2" or 1") that stays in their classroom for keeping their Spanish notes and assignments. 2nd-5th graders who were students at Corpus last year will use their binders from last year. They were left at school and will be in their new teacher's classroom.
All middle school students who take French and/or Spanish for an elective will also need a 3 ring binder for their notes and assignments.
