The story of Mrs. S:
I have been teaching at Corpus Christi since 2009 when my own children started Kindergarten and preschool. I will be teaching math, science and social studies (yeah!) in the fall for both fourth grade homerooms. Mrs. Dahlstrand is joining me and I am so excited!
I have a BA in Geography and Anthropology from KU and a teaching certificate from Ottawa University. I am currently working toward a Master's Degree and certification as a school library and media specialist from Emporia State.
I truly love teaching math and science and I am so happy to get the opportunity to teach social studies again next fall as it is also a favorite subject to teach. Luckily, as a teacher, I get to teach and learn about so many things everyday!
Happy Summer!
Please scroll down the page to find some summer suggestions. I will be adding items of interest as we work through the month of May so please check back and look for some new activities and virtual tours. am so looking forward to seeing everyone again in the fall! Love, Mrs. S.

Suggestions for the summer:
Thanks to all of the students, parents, and caregivers for all of your hard work and flexibility the last weeks of the quarter. There are about a million resources online that you can access to keep your skills going over the summer. Make sure and READ READ READ!
*Some of these links use youtube-I have mixed feelings about youtube so please ask a parent person before you are going to youtube!
LOCAL:
Lawrence Public Library
The Library is scheduled to start reopening on May 18. I am assuming they will do some sort of Summer Reading Program which is a great program to do-when you complete your reading, children usually get to pick a free book and get a pile of coupons and free things. Again, not sure how that will work this summer, but I highly recommend it!

If your student has a favorite author, I would encourage you to check out their author website as they are often pretty cool and have lots of great information about reading, writing and illustrations.
Lawrence Arts Center
The Arts Center has put out an updated catalog that has both online options and some in-person classes. They have financial aid available for students if needed as well.
